Continuing a 40-year-old family tradition in the textile industry, ESTHÉ has been trying to meet the modern-day ethical standards of fashion manufacturing from day one.
In a constant search for family-run businesses across Europe, we often have the luck to work with manufacturers who share the same artisanal approach to production and prioritize the human factor.
One of them is Mr. Jordan Glykidis, an old school knitter with more than 50 years of experience and an inspiring case of mind.
Just like Kalestesia, his family-run knitting factory is also located in Northern Greece -the “capital” of Greek textile industry.
Thessaloniki, Greece
15 employees
Established: 1975
Area: 700 m2
After decades of working tirelessly in optimizing their craft and keeping up to date with the latest knitting techniques and trends, GLYKIDIS Bros now knit on behalf of some of Europe’s leading retailers.
GLYKIDIS Knitting Factory specializes in premium quality cotton-based and viscose-based single jersey. In addition, all of the factory’s manufacturing processes are in place to knit eco-responsible viscose (ECOVERO™) as well as organic and recycled fabrics. As a result, this is where we source all of the cotton fabric needed to make ESTHÉ’s organic T-shirts.
According to the owners, the human factor will always “outbid” the automated procedure when it comes to textile manufacturing.
Watching them vigorously observe every single piece of cloth made in their family-run knitting factory for decades now has always been an inspiration for us. A constant reminder that it is not only important to love what you do, but also to prioritize human-friendly conditions while doing it.
